: Theory and Nursing Practice
Document Summary
In my nursing practice, i mainly identify with the self-care deficit theory because it relates closely to my personal values, beliefs, knowledge, and nursing experience. This nursing model attempts to interconnect various nursing concepts to facilitate different ways of looking at issues or phenomena in the nursing field and practice. Although relatively simple, the concepts are easily generalizable to a wide range of patients (petiprin, 2023). It focuses on a few assumptions, including the need to be self-reliant and responsible for one"s own care and the care of others in their family. Another assumption is that nursing is a kind of action involving interactions between multiple people. The self-care deficit theory also assumes that meeting universal as well as developmental self-care is a crucial aspect of providing primary care. According to the theory, promoting self-care behaviors requires personal knowledge of health problems. Learning dependent care and self-care are constituents of socio-cultural factors.
