Document Summary

Devs 221 journal for modules 3 & 4. As a second generation filipino-canadian, i can definitely assert that i do not have any personal familial ties that link my family directly to the european settler colonialism that has taken place in the early history of canada. However, to think that i am not part of the problem is ignorant and dangerous way of thinking. I acknowledge that i have actively been reaping the benefits and privileges afforded to me by settler colonialism. I am doing this entry of colonized land, and i am grateful to have had the opportunity to live in this country of canada. In module 3, we took a look at decolonizing and canadian colonialism. Going into this module, i was sort of surprised that i felt like i was going through a sort of culture shock upon learning about the not so great things about this part of canadian history.
