Here we examined how these myths about indigenous identity started and how we are working to dispel the inaccuracies generated by these myths. In this module, we examined and learned that a lot of the myths generated by colonialists resulted is grossly inaccurate assumptions about indigenous peoples. Some of these myths being that they are savages or that they are unsophisticated. A lot of the assumptions amount to blatant racism, which is why they must be dispelled. The idea of reconciliation seems very far away after going through this module, and it would be dishonest of me to say that we are doing a very good job. According to vowel, the idea of reconciliation is still a work in progress and will likely continue to be a great endeavor as we move forward into the future.
