PHYS 1P22 Lecture Notes - Lecture 5: Rectilinear Propagation, Plane Mirror, Virtual Image
Document Summary
Objectives: use the law of reflection (the angle of incidence equals the angle of reflection, construct ray diagrams to illustrate the formation of a virtual image in a plane mirror. Activities: use a plane mirror and ray box to measure a number of angles of incidence and corresponding angles of reflection. Plot graph of angle of reflection against angle of incidence. Light is a form of energy that enables people and animals to see objects. It is a very essential source of energy for the process by which plants produce their food. (photosynthesis) Luminous-objects that emit their own light also known as incandescent. e. g the sun, stars, torch, lamp, candle etc. Non-luminous-objects that do not emit their own light. These objects are seen when they reflect light. e. g. the moon, table, book etc. We see objects because they emit or reflect light. When emitted or reflected light enters our eyes, we see objects.
