State: before colonialism, the premodern political entities had completely di erent cultures and way of lives. The north being occupied by muslims and the south being occupied by the yorubas and igbo"s. By bringing these entities together to form a state, it creates con ict during the territories. These countries would have govern a country without any prior knowledge on electoral democracy. Leaders who are to be elected in power were looked down upon by other ethnic entities causing the legitimacy to be questioned. India were primarily ruled by hindu"s which caused india"s muslim leaders to feel underrepresented. Pakistan: the nigerian state was weak in almost every element. The bureaucracy in the state were just puppets planted by the british in order to gain indirect rule of nigeria. This caused the british to gain resources from nigeria at the expense of the development of the state.
