Document Summary

Prof. john lux: socrates qualities and his death. Socrates was the first of the three great greek philosophers (the other two were plato and aristotle). He was born in 469 bc in athens, a city he loved and respected. He was considered the bravest, the wisest and also the most upright man by the people who really knew and understood him, including plato. Socrates was patriotic who fought bravely for athens. Socrates not only exhibited bravery in battle, but also in his manner of standing up for his principles, even in the face of danger. In the affair of leon of salamis, he bravely refused to be a part of any plot that would harm an innocent man. Socrates went around athens and challenged the people with questions. Then socrates would try to teach them to think better by asking them more questions which showed them the problems in their logic. Sometimes they even tried to beat him up.
