Darwin"s theory was a challenge to the orthodoxy of the time, which was that species were individually created and unchanging. Darwin outlined in his book, detailed account of evidence for evolution and mechanism responsible for evolution through natural selection. Theory: species change over time because those that inherit favourable traits from their parents are more likely to survive and reproduce than those that inherit unfavourable traits. Heredity offspring inherit characteristics from their parents. Variation cannot work if offspring are perfect copies of parents. Mutations changes in genes by copying errors. Sex sexual reproduction mix from parents.
