Document Summary

The synthesis of a polypeptide directed by sequence of nucleotides in mrna. The direction of synthesis n terminal c terminal. Trna carry the complementary pairs to the mrna sequence to form a peptide chain. Peptide chain is based off of the mrna code. A sequence of dna that is essential for a specific function. Are transcribed into rna and subsequently translated into proteins. Contain introns which need to leave the nucleus. Therefore this is why eukaryotes go through splicing (introns and exons) Everything takes place in the cytoplasmic space. That means that they happen at the same time and same compartment. One mrna can code for multiple genes. Mrna contains coding regions for more than one related. Rna polymerase is composed of four subunit cores and a loosely bound sigma factor. Holoenzyme = core enzyme + sigma factor. Sigma factor directs the core enzyme to the promoter. The main job of the sigma factor is to recognize the promoter.
