British empire criminalizes the slave trade in 1807. Coming to a close in the 19th century. Britain wanted other countries to abolish the slave trade because they didn"t want them making money. Slavery is abolished in the british empire in 1833. Indentured servants from india started working for britain: wasn"t documented in the same way as court records because it was on a ship. Britain needed a replacement for the slaves on their plantations. Former slaves wouldn"t work in poor conditions for cheap wages. Developed a navy to patrol the east coast of africa to confiscate slaves. Britain kept the slaves and set them to their colonies instead. Instead of being punished according to british law, they were punished by the captain who was in charge. Bonds between brothers and sisters in which gay shit happened a lot. Gay shit between women was a lot less documented: matikor - women simulating hetero sex.
