Day 1 29/8/16 ch 1: a challenge to why sports matters. Not for mass participation in us system wise. Sport programs that are conductive to health and focus on inclusivity and physical activity. Neither good nor bad (as a whole) The issue: the people who run them believe that they are positive/good. Misrepresentations of elite development and positive development are the same thing when they are not. Makes kids want to drop it (crazy coaching parents) Evaluate coaches/admin of well being they cultivate. Some forgive all sins for the win (bad over all) Better to look at way they communicate/how athletes feel. Together: community tie to sports teams (longhorns) Divide: the nature of competitions and rivalry in sports can drive a wedge between a community as it can bring it together. Shared stores and reflections, well formulated plan to integrate sport into an overall community. Phase 1: group bonding each separately (2 groups)
