What i wish people had told me about working in the sports industry. Make it unique (experience in internship, leadership roles, projects, etc) Unique value or how to market yourself. Get involved (conferences, volunteer for teams/sports org, read sports business journal, set up informational interviews) Not as much the information as the connections/networking. Take things you don"t think you can do and then figure out how to do it. Don"t turn down the opportunity because you think you can"t. Be patient - not a linear course and entry to sports will not be. Hand written thank you note - it matters. Network have a concise answer to why __ brand here and why __your name here . Network don"t ever feel like a burden when asking friends/family/alumni to make an introduction (use that in) Find a mentor/champion who cares/will keep an eye out for you. Alternative route to success start at collegiate or minor or d- league organization.
