Individualism: an individual"s responsibility for him/herself (greater tolerance for poverty) (ex. Access to resources is dependent on individual and family wealth and is not the same for all. Collectivism: society shares a collective responsibility for the development and welfare of individuals. All individuals would have the same access to things in a collective society. Japan, norway, sweden- would qualify for welfare when family income falls below the wage of average factory worker. More emphasis in the u. s. on equality than some other countries.
