Changes what your rights are (children in sweden have value of education and welfare) Commitment to providing equal opportunity to men and women. Create different environments from the very moment of birth. Policies and practices that you find in the major institutions of a country. Have an indirect influence on the child despite their inability to control it. Ex. school"s policies and practices become gatekeepers: sex ed. We are never encouraged to talk about it. Significant others of your life: parents, teachers, coaches, priests, neighbors. Radius of relations expands as you develop. These interactions then create a unique environment for the individual.
