Problems of youth are grounded in developmental theory. Sex- is a solution to the undermining of their anxiety. Narcissism- a sense of being so self entitled. *when anxiety goes beyond the critical threshold problem behaviors began to manifest themselves-decompensate. Niche generates anxiety: trust- can"t trust that their needs will be met, competence- their ability to do something-shame that they are failure in the eyes of other-guilt can"t be what they should, mattering-if they matter. General discourse on anxiety and reactivity- when anxiety goes beyond that threshold they become reactive- amplifies the anxiety. General note on reactivity when faced with emotion-evoking situations (within the family, within the peer world), the tendency is for individuals to. React in ways that subverts their own development. The source of the anxiety is important. It is the reactivity to the anxiety that leads to problems. The reactivity is an attempt to manage the anxiety/emotion.
