Family stage with the greatest numbers of exits and entrances. Children leaving, getting married, having grandkids, divorces and remarriages, etc. *stress and developmental stacking : constant developmental transitions of everyone in family. Developmental stacking increases stress that has to be dealt with (stress from each generation stacks on top of each other). Very significant because they are the center of systems (middle generation). Concept of vertical stressors comes into play again, how family life events are managed has a lot to do with the legacy of the family, how the family has functioned from generation to generation. It"s a lot easier to deal with grandchildren being born when everyone has gotten along through generations, when there is a positive emotional environment and emotional bonding. Parent/child issues: the parenting of adolescents managing the individuation process: most stressful time in parenting life cycle. Partially launched: mom still making car payments, dad still paying rent, etc.
