ZOO 3733C Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Articular Processes, Intervertebral Foramina, Sacrum
Document Summary
5 things that go through foramen meninges, spinal cord, blood vessels, csf, ___. Lumbar vertebrae: superior articular facets facing straight inward (lumbar are lovers), looks like a moose. Sacral hiatus is important for caudal epidural so that nerves below waist become desensitized without compromising muscle function. Lumbar vertebrae do not have spinal cord content, c1 has the brain stem. Vertebral artery and vein are contents of c7 (your vertebrae prominens). The transverse foramen of c7 does not have the vertebral artery. Spinal cord contents: top is groove, bottom is fissure. The dorsal root is sensory info, the ventral root is sensory info. The dorsal rootlets lead into the spinal cord. Ventral rootlets convey info back to the ventral root and out to your body. White matter vs. grey matter: grey matter contains a lot of cell bodies, white matter contains axons and myelin sheath.
