PPE 3003 Lecture Notes - Lecture 15: Test Anxiety, Albert Bandura, Social Cognitive Theory
Document Summary
The following are the major concepts presented by albert bandura. A strong emphasis in bandura"s theory is on observational learning. He believes people tend to be influenced by models that are similar to themselves in terms of personal backgrounds. Bandura feels behavior occurs as a result of a complex interplay between inner processes and environmental influenced. He also feels that most of our behavior is regulated to a large extent by anticipated or expectancy outcomes. In recent extensions of the work on multiple modeling, it was found that an interesting implication was that children reacted best to the situation of do as i say not as i do by their parents. Bandura feels that media portrayal of violence can have harmful effects on our behavior and that of others. He states that even normal people can become aggressive if situational variables are conducive (favorable) to violence.
