Document Summary

Happiness, therefore, must be some form of contemplation: and that all these attributes belong most of all to the philosopher is manifest. He, therefore, is the dearest to the gods. And he who is that will presumably be also the happiest; so that in this way too the philosopher will more than any other be happy. 9: philosophers practice reason the best so that"s why they"re god"s favorite and if you"re in god"s favor then you will be presumed the happiest. Aristotle views the philosopher as the happiest man. He believes that contemplation is the activity of god. All other activity such as sleeping or action is beneath god, so the only thing left is contemplation. Since philosophers are basically just contemplators, they are doing god"s work. Because it is so akin to god"s work, philosophers work with the nature of happiness. Furthermore, aristotle asserts that happiness is in fact a form of contemplation.
