People very early understood that the active principles in wine
had possible positive effects on the patients.
And they also knew that raisins, nectars, flowers, roots and stuff
could be put into wine and their benefits would be extracted more
properly.
Before the advancement of benefit, wine was the only available
medicine. For instance, a substitute for anesthetics.
Wine and other fermented beverages were consumed in the diluted
form.
Besides water, it was the only drink.
Even during the olden times wine was encouraged to be used
moderately.
Because water was not purified then, the alcoholic beverages were

Treasury.
The label warnings are not on the bottles in France or Italy, but

Wine generally, because used at home, does not then involve many

Absorption vs. metabolism:
Absorption is the movement of alcohol into the body.
Metabolism is the breakdown of alcohol to other compounds,
in order to eliminate it.
Alcohol is absorbed into small intestine and stomach, at 80 and
20%.
Alcohol is broken down 20% in stomach and 80% in liver.
Around 3% is excreted.
The liver is the only organ that can produce enzymes to oxidize
alcohol.
Around 10 million years ago, the apes went through a gene
mutation of ADH4 that metabolized ethanol at higher rates.
This happened when the fruits were rotten and had yeast and
ethanol.
That trait was then inherited by humans through million of years.
And what causes fatty acid? Liver processes alcohol first. So the
carbohydrate will get stored as fat.
Because of biological differences, women will be easier
influenced by alcohol.
What factors affect the absorption of alcohol?
