Document Summary

Understand the relationship between the linear sequence of nucleotides and codons on dna and on mrna, and how these relate to amino acid sequence in a polypeptide. When synthesizing a molecule, it takes a series of reactions to create the final product which enzymes are needed for every step. Now lets say there"s four enzymes that are needed for five steps. We start with one source and then an enzyme comes and makes it the next step. If an enzyme is taken out, the final product wont be made and the product before the enzyme comes in gets accumulated. But if you give the cell the compound that the enzyme that was taken out was suppose to synthesize, the product will be created because the step with nonenzyme will be bypassed. Describe beadle and tatum"s experiments with neurospora and explain how they contributed to our understanding of how genes control metabolism.
