The treaty of paris was the british and americans final settlement. It was signed on september 3, 1783 when the spanish and french stopped their fighting. It gave the americans recognition for independence and territory from the bottom of canada to the northern area of florida and atlantic to the mississippi. Americans celebrated in the fall of 1783 when the british troops left. It brought an end to the war and all the things that the colonists struggled for. The colonists got what they deserved after the long war and now their grievances would be heard. It was a defining moment in american history and it would lead to a new way of life for many of the american people. It had important effects for the american society and it finally showed that the americans have the home rule for their country. Now the americans are in charge in what they control: loyalists.
