Document Summary

The albany plan was a conference that happened with colonial leaders. The purpose for this conference was to think of a treaty for the iroquois. The significance of the albany plan was to set up one government for the colonies. The reason for this is that there would one government in charge of the. Indians, while the colonies could have their own governments still. In the central government, there would be one central president or elected official and he would be paid by the king. However, no one approved it even though they were going to face the french and indians. York, new england, pennsylvania, and maryland: fort duquesne. Fort duquesne is the french outpost in pittsburgh. The virginians and washington attacked the fort but the french counterattacked and ultimately, washington had to surrender. This clash brought the beginning of the french and indian war. The defeat of the virginians at fort duquesne showed the weakness of the british.
