Toes pointed forward: left and right. Left and right are always used in relation to the patient"s perspective. Patient"s left and right will be opposite of yours when you are looking at them from an anterior view: anatomical terms vs layman"s (everyday usage) of terms. Arm = region of the upper limb between the shoulder and the elbow. Leg = region of the lower limb between the knee & ankle: directional terms. Anterior (ventral) = located on or closer to the front of the body. Posterior (dorsal) = located on or closer to the back of the body. The heart is anterior to the spine. The breast is located on the anterior surface of the thorax. The spine is posterior to the heart.
