Reality: ego: real life, anxiety is fear of real world events, cause of this is usually easily identified. Neurotic: i"d: animal behavior, comes from unconscious fear that the basic impulses of id will take control of the person, leading to eventual punishment. Moral: superego: values, guilt, anxiety involves a fear of violating our superego principles, and appears as feelings of guilt. Repression: blocking anxiety provoking thought from mind (temporary) Projection: cannot accept feeling so project that feeling onto others. Reaction formation: show the opposite of how you really feel. Regression: revert to earlier stages of development due to stress. Wednesday, february 8, 2017: give plausible but faulty explanation. Identification: relating to those who are of higher status/morality. Displacement: substitute object you desire with other that is similar but easier to obtain. Displaced anger: take anger out on someone/something else. Sublimation: like displaced anger but opposite, beneficial to society. Denial of reality: denial that something has happened.
