Document Summary

1 malfunction of one specific component and not another (shallice, 1979; caramazza, 1988). This working procedure adopted by cognitive neuropsychology rejects the concept of sindrome as defined by classical neuropsychology (see paragraph 1. 2. 3. ), since it is not appropriate for the study of alterations or normal processing (caramazza, 1984; badecker and caramazza, 1985). The meaning of syndrome that we can admit as appropriate under the assumptions of cognitive neuropsychology would assume that the coocurrence of symptoms is the result of the alteration of a processing component involved in various functions. To further conclude that the deficit action of this component will deteriorate all the functions for whose normal action is necessary the participation of the component. Theoretically, if one of the components or modules isdeteriorated, the patient"s deficiencies should manifest only in those tasks involving the participation of that component. The necessary grouping of symptoms would be referred to, the pattern of behavior presented by the patient.
