Neuroanatomy: white matter, mostly myelinated axons, gray matter, packed with cell bodies and dendrites. Fissure: deep depression or groove usually separates different brain areas. Directional terms: dorsal vs ventral (of the brain, dorsal top, ventral - bottom. Superior vs inferior (in relation to another structure: superior above another structure. Inferior below another structure: anterior vs posterior, anterior towards the front, posterior towards the back, medial vs lateral, medial - towards the middle, lateral towards the side, bilateral: two sides, unilateral: one side. Physiology and function: optic chiasm, where the optic nerves cross to become the optic tract, corpous callosum, structure that connects the hemispheres. Internal capsule: relaying functions, pre- and post-central gyrus (parietal lobe, pre, the gyrus that comes before the central sulcus, motor cortext, post, comes after the central sulcus.
