Document Summary

Scrotum: muscular sac outside the body cavity, must be 3 degrees cooler than the body. Tubules rectus: transport between seminiferous tubules and rete testis. Rete testis: transport between tubulus rectis and efferent ductules. Efferent ductules: transport between rete testis and epididymis. Arteries run past veins, so heat is transferred to make sure the scrotum is cool enough. Sac-like structure composed of skin and superficial fascia. Allows maintenance of optimal temperature: via dartos and cremaster muscles. Can contract or relax to raise and lower the testes based on temperature. Glans covered with prepuce: head of the penis, prepuce is a layer of extra skin (circumcision) Both spongy network of connective tissue, smooth muscle and vascular space. Blood vessels dilate, engorges, and becomes erect. Ductus (vas) deferens: sperm pushed from testis to here by contractions, vasectomy: ductus deferens is cut, ends are sealed, and sperm cannot get out.
