An aesthetic can make us understand that we are engaged with art. Creates an aesthetic distance between the viewer & thing being viewed. Notion of an aesthetic is being defamiliarized & being redefined. Native american have been relegated to the past. See their culture as something of the past. To be an artist from the indian world carries with it certain responsibilities.
