Identified hazard : slip on denali fault, shaking from quake. Reduced vulnerability : engineered for 8m of slip. Our goal when living with earthquake is to reduce the risk to acceptable levels. Step 1: identify, understand, quantify the hazard. Step 2: identify, understand, quantify the vulnerability. Step 3: reduce the vulnerability & risk to acceptable levels.
