Communication serves five major functions within groups or organization: Communication acts to manage behaviors of members in many different ways. Organizations have the authority hierarchies and formal guidelines that employees are supposed to and needed to follow. When employees follow the descriptions of their jobs and follow company policy, communication acts as a function of management. When work groups tease members who produce too much, informal communication happens and management of a member"s particular behavior. Communication creates feedback by clarifying what employees have to do, how well they do what they do, and how to improve their personal and work performance. Forming goals, progress feedback, and reward for desired behavior need communication and stimulate motivation. The work group is the primary source of social interaction for a lot of employees. Communication in a group is fundamental and shows the satisfaction and frustration of members. This means the communication given gives emotional sharing of feelings and social needs" fulfillment.
