Diffusion is insufficient over distances of more than a few millimeters. Some organisms use their gastrovascular cavity for circulation can be opened or closed cs. Cardio=heart, vascular=vessels heart is chambered blood pumping organ, atria receive blood into heart, ventricles pump blood out of heart. Arteries carry blood away from heart to organs unoxygenated.
