Document Summary

7 steps plus the knowledge in one"s head - attempts to summarize your view to an environmental stimulus. Stage 5 & 6 knowledge is somehow involved in those stages. This external or distal stimulus (step one) exists in some form, and then light reflected from the tree enters the eye. The principle of transformation the stimulus and the perception of that stimulus are not the same, there has been a transformation from the stimulus (tree), to electromagnetic energy (light), to electrical signals (neural firing) There is a difference/ transformation between the stimulus an the transformation of the stimulus. it will eventually get converted to electrical signals . Sensory receptors are cells specialized to respond to environmental energy. Visual pigment is what reacts to light. Transduction occurs which changes environmental energy to nerve impulses that are then being processed by the brain. Neural processing is the changes that occur as signals are transmitted through the maze of neurons.
