Personality is nothing more than the accumulation of a person"s learned tendencies (according to those theorists) Explain how behaviours are acquired and maintained over time using very few principles. They"re comprehensive models in that they attempt to explain these behaviours using fewest number of inferences. Behavioural approaches (strict) compared with other approaches (ex: trait models) Don"t provide different answers to the same question. Trait theorists (behaviours that show stability over time) They don"t address similar phenomena for the most part. Concepts of learning theory can be very powerful tools for analyzing certain behaviours. Psychology has had a long time to ponder the usefulness of behaviourism. Cognitive information then cognitive neuroscience (following dominant paradigms) Rasarin study - evaluation of a political slogan can be manipulated by pairing it with something desirable/noxious. Classical conditioning in clinical phenomena such as anxiety. May have had payoff for bad behaviour (attention from parents in youth) - leads to adult behaviour.
