Document Summary
Psychology 1010 notes week 4 (3 rd class): Measures naturally occurring variations of both variables to see if they are needed. Variables are not manipulated or controlled rather they are simply measured while they are naturally occurring. When dots are scattered haphazardly, that means there is little to no relationships between the two variables. If there is a pattern, aka linear trend, that tells you the two variables are related making it easier to make predictions. R=number consists of a plus or minus sign. Number tells us the strength of the 2 variables that are correlated. The + or tells us direction of their relationship. 5 is a moderate relationship also moderate predictability. + sign tells us the value of the variables are changing in the same direction. Sign tells us the value of the variables are changing in the opposite direction.
