NATS 1675 Lecture Notes - Lecture 17: Pulmonary Circulation, Red Blood Cell, Cardiac Muscle

72 views2 pages

Document Summary

The circulatory system interconnects with 10 other organ systems and it takes roughly one minute for blood to circulate around the body. The right side is the pulmonary circulation to the lungs. The left side is the systemic circulation to the body (more thick walls). Many will only allow one red blood cell pass at a time because they are so small. This is where the exchange of gasses & nutrients occur. Venioles small veins in to which capillaries empty. Veins large vessels carrying blood back to the heart. In a systemic circulation (left side) arteries carry oxygenated blood and blood with nutrients. The blood going through the heart does not provide nutrients or oxygenated blood. Other tissues of the heart are connective, fat & blood. The cells are branch with a single nucleus. At the end of the branches there is an intercalated disc. The cardiac muscles lies between skeleton muscle & smooth muscle.
