Document Summary

Heart is the blood pump (2 pumps put together) Blood pu(cid:373)ped out though heart, ru(cid:374)s through series of vessels, arteries (cid:271)reak i(cid:374)to smaller vessels. Human heart is a closed system that connects with about 10 other organ systems. On right side of heart= pulmonary circulation , pumps blood to the lungs. Left side= systemic circulation (to the body) Right pumps to the lungs, left to the body. With the 2 pumps, it includes 4 chambers (each has 2) Upper chambers of heart called atria (atrium) (right/ left atria) Atria receives blood from places in body, ventricles pump the blood to some place in body. Atria = receiving chambers, ventricles are the pumping chambers. When atria contract, they pump blood to ventricles. We have a series of blood vessels: Arteries carry blood away from the heart (a = away) (are big vessels), like a tree (arterioles are small arteries, these connect to capillaries)
