The notions of pleasure and desire can be seen throughout leopardi"s works their is the impossibility to satisfy these new desire and needs, therefore life is suffering because of this impossibility. Life is desire and it is impossible to resist. The idea of ending it all (suicide) comes into play ex. can be seen in brutus. This conflict is also a source of energy. Constant references to nothingness however, leopardi"s nihilism can be seen as a way of being human which isn"t nothing. In today"s society, we are not humans but instead we are consumers. Social chain" nature and the way life is structured is against us, nature does not love humanity. We"ve got ourselves, we have human solidarity, we have human love displayed throughout the enlightenment and the french revolution.
