Should incorporate instructional strategies for all types of learners. 1: emotionality (eg. motivation) - what are their desires, learn better what they want to. Learning facilitated when big picture presented prior to details. Prefer info presented in step-by-step sequential manner enroute to main concept. The way in which information is received and processed= preferred perceptual mode. Four types of learners, based on preferred perceptual mode (modal strength): visual (cue words= see, kinesthetic (feel of mov"t, analytic (problem solve, auditory (sounds and rhythms) Learning style shift based on whether task is cognitive or motor. Use various assessments to discover a learner"s preferred style. Then, make an effort to incorporate strategies from other styles o. Use an eclectic approach (wide variety/range of styles) Learning a new skill, or performing a skill under new conditions; can be influenced by past experiences.
