Ego psychologist -> he is interested in ego development and also with how ego identity develops. While their theories generally do not include cultural variables. They are interested in how context (location) has on reasoning. There is a continuous attempt to validate the transcultural and transhistorical claims regarding the formal properties of thought. Erikson"s theory is fundamentally about 4 things: meaning & life, relationship, morality (value orientation stages, identity & it"s formation. Freud: psychosocial theory: instinct theory, libido theory. Erikson: psychosocial theory: ego and its development. Erikson realized that he could not theorize about meaning and meaningfulness with a psychosexual theory of development that focuses on zones and modes.
