Race: a category composed of people who share biologically transmited traits that members of a society deem socially important. Ethnicity: a shared cultural heritage, ethnic group. Cultural unit based on 4 factors verical moseic: ethnically straiied with certain ethnic groups dominaing other ethnic groups power: the ability to exercise control over the producive resources of a country including the producion of ideas. Minority groups: share a disincive idenity disinguished by physical or cultural traits and are oten disadvantaged. Subjecive idenity is the personal involvement and atachment to a minority. Objecive idenity is the labeling of persons into minoriies despite their personal lack of atachment. An image which exaggerates what is perceived to be a trait of a typical member of a group. Applied to the whole group, and always a generalizaion. Prejudice: a rigid or irraional generalizaion about an enire category of people. Stage 1 ethnocentrism + economic exploitaion. Stage 2 socially disadvantaged + lowly posiion.
