2006: became law that could marry between same sex. Concepts: need to know what is a group and organization and the process of socialization. Know major theorists (who is the theorist of structural functionalism) Can be two or more people to be considered group. Talking about people that identify and have some element of social interaction with each other in a group. Groups in societies share experiences within the group. The smaller the group size share things like loyalties and is easier to be more loyal to fewer people. Not all collections of people form groups (ex. Cooley talks about two groups of people which are the primary vs secondary group of people. People in these groupings spend a large amount of time together. Bound together by strong and lasting loyalties. Cooley called those strong and lasting loyalties primary relationships. Because spend a lot of time together you typically know each other very well.
