Supporting evidence: affect, beliefs & behaviour emerge separately in factor analyses of verbal & nonverbal measures of attitudes. The 3 factors independently to predict overall attitude. The 3 factors are typically (not always) positively correlated w each other. Ppl differ predictably in the relative in uence of the 3 factors on their attitudes. Semantic differential measures: researchers used the same semantic scales to assess both cognition & affect for a particular object - just framed the scales differently.
