Personal identity as bodily identity (of soul), a person is the same person because they have the same soul. Sameness of person boils down to sameness of something physical. When you wake up in the morning you don"t have to check your own body to make sure you"re still the same person, you know who you are without verifying. John locke: it is conceivable that i could wake up in another person"s body. So far we"ve tried to cash out sameness of person as sameness of something, instead we could try the baseball game analogy: If you"re watching a game on tv, and you get up and do something for half an hour the come back, you ask yourself if it"s the same game as it was before. You are observing a certain phase of the game and when you return you simply observe another phase of it, and you don"t question whether or not it"s the same game.
