Before surgery had swelling, decreased rom and loss of mobility, surgery is a must. Intense rehab, physio, cryotherapy, muscle stimulation, maintaining fitness. Processing injury and move on and deal with it rationally. Dealing with agitation, emotional depletion, isolation, shock, denial, self- pity. Need to have positive coping mechanisms and support. Identity loss, fear and anxiety of not recovery, being replaced, loss of confidence, losing their status. Stress can contribute to injury occurrence but is also a result of injury and the rehab process. Stress very high when they aren"t recovery how they expected to. Defined as training/treatments in preparation for anticipated stressors - physical or psychological stressors. Those who receive prehab prep have better functional ability overtime during: Train specific systems that will be affected by stressors. Prehab is also used for people with chronic conditions like osteoarthritis, treating patients getting cardiac surgery. Elective surger or longer wait time for surgery =larger prehab window.
