Document Summary
Cyborg raises philosophical political questions that we haven"t seen with the robot. What line is being crossed, what new of thinking of humans and machines. How does our relationship to technology change when we look at the relationship to the cyborg. There is no longer the humans and the machines, they are now one. Animals didn"t make and then use tools, humans were tool users. The cyborg calls into question the distinction between one who uses tools and the tool. We thought of the tool as something external to humankind. There cant be robot revolutions because we are the robots. The cyborg breaks down the distinction between what is inside and what is outside. Humans have typically considered that their uniqueness holds them from the rest of the world. We find the human within, in our minds, our memories, our dreams, unconscious. This part of ourselves that cant be digitized.
