Describe the 7 muscles of the posterior compartment of the leg & 3 major muscles involved with dorsiflexion of the foot. Adductor longus femur s i l i c a r g. Arises from first 4 lumbar spinal nerves: l1-l4. Some minor branches innervate the abdominal wall. Major branches innervate anterior thigh via femoral and obturator nerves. Femoral nerve anterior compartment of thigh muscles (6: 2. Obturator nerve medial compartment of thigh muscles (3) Two main nerves as well: 1. Superior gluteal nerve gluteus minimus & medius: 2. Tibial nerve posterior compartment of leg + intrinsic foot muscles. Superficial branch lateral compartment of leg. Deep branch anterior compartment of leg. Pain/tingling/numbness caused by irritation of nerve roots leading to sciatic nerve (i. e. tibial nerve + common fibular nerve)
