The study of the nature of knowledge (methods, validity, and scope: where knowledge comes from, examine it, examine where it comes from, makes us question the reliability and validity of the knowledge. Most principles that govern social life contain disagreement, therefore we don"t know what the base line level of knowledge looks like. Perspective offers different viewpoints of the same empirical conditions. If we are to conduct social science research, we need to set a set of assumptions of what can be known about the social world. There are disagreements in the empirical world about sociology. Science provides us ways to understand the world. It"s good we learn about the world through multiple sources; we can"t experience everything in the world first hand. There are limitations to scientific inquiry; we can"t pursue certain questions for a variety of reasons (too complicated, ethical issues, etc. ). The social world is not static; it"s dynamic.
