Document Summary

Cells must engage with the extracellular space to communicate with other cells and to acquire resources. ** need control & dynamic changes to the plasma membrane ** We have polarized cells (ie. the two ends are different) This is because we have different functions on eg. the apical and basal sides of cells. Immature secretory vesicles, converting them to more concentrated. Endocytic pathway counterbalances the secretory pathways & performs specific functions. Invagination forming a cavity/pouch as the membrane indents into the cytosol. Fission breaking off from a membrane to form a vesicle. Clathrin coated vesicle begins to form coated pit. Lower ph means that the receptor separates from the ligand. The ldl receptor gets recycles (returns back to the membrane) Degradation in the lysosome and free cholesterol is pumped out. Er, golgi etc: budding how some viruses leave the cell, the normal budding mechanisms by the cell is beyond the course (in the textbook)
