Needs to be bound to camp = small molecule (b) activator is removed when small molecule bound to it camp produced when glucose goes down. When small molecule is bound, activator is not bound. [2] turn off (repressors/negative regulation) (a) repressor normally bound to specific site called operator. Small molecule binds to repressor and decreases its dna binding affinity. Lac repressor falls off allowing for expression of lac operon if no glucose in media (b) repressor has higher affinity for dna when bound to small molecule.
