Document Summary
Cells" shapes & functions tissues organs organisms. Cells lose control could form tumours cancer: membrane trafficking, cytoskeletal networks, cell adhesion. Interactions depends on control & changes to the plasma membrane. Apical domain: faces lumen, cavity, or surface. Apical & basolateral different proteins on different sides. 2 types: constitutive secretory pathway (found in all cells, once protein is made exported, control only in transcription & translation. Endocytosis: regulated (found in specialized cells, protein produced & packaged into secretory vesicles (stored, must wait for extracellular signal to excrete protein. Provides extra plasma membrane when needed: mitosis- needs to form 2 cell membranes. Endosomes fuse: phagocytosis- since it"s ingesting another cell- essentially making a vesicle. Endosomes fuse: wound repair- cell membrane gets damaged- new phospholipids. Lysosomes fuse to plasma membrane for extra phospholipids. Mature secretory vesicle (both pathways): made by gathering up cargo from golgi, and using protein coats to bud off & form cargo-concentrated vesicle. Endocytosis early endosome fate of the vesicle.
